I have systematically consulted WIKIPEDIA for a very long time in almost each of my web searches, whatever the subject. And I registered by the end of 2023, in order to make some contributions.
Soon after, I discovered by chance the whole world of WIKIDATA. And I began to learn the most I could about it (RDF theoritical basis, SPARQL language, request examples, ... ). Although I am not, and will never become an expert.
Aim[edit]
I intend to do in Wikidata the same as for Wikipedia: mainly to do minor corrections (typos, spelling, grammar) that I may encounter in my readings. But also to correct obvious errors or dispel certain ambiguities in wording, if any. And also (specific to Wikidata) to do some translations where missing in the french pages.
This will be limited to the Wikidata documentation pages, essentially in the french translation pages, but also in the english source pages eventually.
In order to do so, I have briefly learned how WD and wikicode work, but I am still just a "newbie".
However, I don't expect to add any resource to or otherwise modify the Wikidata database itself, at least in a near future.
Contributions[edit]
So far (as of March 2024), going through the french SPARQL Tutorial and the (main) Examples documents, I found myself making multiple minor edits, as well as translations, rewordings, clarifications, bug fixes, and improvements to example queries. Doing so, I have translated all parts that still where not translated in the french SPARQL Examples page.
I also made some clarifications and corrected some bugs or modified some examples directly in the English source pages, in order to have them reflected in the translation pages in the different languages.
But this is always a work in progress, as those source pages are regularly modified.
