File:Astana 202302.jpg[edit]

This file was initially tagged by Star Mississippi as Speedy (speedy) and the most recent rationale was: No reason to believe this is their own work. Cross wiki promotional spam Yann (talk) 08:42, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Yann: please say, what criteria for speedy deletion for File:Город Алматы.webp, of the same author? — Yuri V (tc), 14:00, 26 February 2024 (UTC).[reply]
Thanks for pointing this one out. I also undeleted it, and made a regular DR instead.
For a speedy deletion, a valid rationale should be provided, and you didn't give any here. This is perfectly in scope, so "promotional spam" is not a valid reason. I can't find any copy on the Net, so there is no proof that it is a copyright violation. Yann (talk) 14:24, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You'll note File:Vrublevskiy 883.jpg was deleted as well. Flagging here if you believe it should be reinstated. Copyright violation is my primary concern as the user admitted at en wiki that they lifted images. That they're using them for spam is secondary. @Star Mississippi: that deletion log gives a link to the probable source, which I guess was in the request and would have been the proverbial “smoking gun” to justify SD. Having uncertain provenance and an untrustworthy uploader certainly weighs in favour of COM:PCP deletion, but calls for more judgment than admins are expected to exercise in SD requests.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 19:27, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
