If you read up to the box underneath administrator access, it identifies that we need a local request made on certain pages informing the community and asking for their opinion on if you should be an admin or not and this must be open for 7 days. Dear global wiki administrators. I was an administrator of Karakalpak Wikipedia (kaa.wikipedia.org) during 17th December 2022 - 17th March 2023. During my adminship I corrected many pages with mistakes, deleted pages with wrong names and etc. But there are still so many pages with mistakes, also I need an administrator access to work with protected templates and etc. I'm in a good relationship with other administrators, so I ask administrator access for a longer term. I put a discussion on kaawiki admins page on 16.03.2023 and it has passed 7 required days. Just for your information and thank you in advance. Qaraqalpaqpan (talk) 19:38, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Zaitsév@trwiki

Per the new policy (the results of it can be seen here). Nanahuatl (talk) 06:28, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Nanahuatl, As far as I can see, the policy is to notify inactive admins 1 month prior to removal of access on the talk page and by mail. I see that Eldarion and Zaitsév received messages only on February 23rd and I don't see messages for others. Can you clarify whether earlier messages were for everyone? --Mykola 13:49, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
@Mykola:, the policy says "user message and/or e-mail", to be exact. Both admins that you mention don't have the e-mailing option, therefore, user talk pages were used by another admin, Vincent Vega. And the announced it on the admin board. Nanahuatl (talk) 15:07, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
I see two sections of your policy and for these cases, as far as I understand, the temporary section "Geçici husular" applies, which says that the notice must be sent to both the talk page and the mail (if available). Clarify this, please, with the community. Usually, both are done for transparency, this avoids confusion. In any case, I mark Eldarion and Zaitsév as "Not done" because a month has not passed since the notification. --Mykola 16:42, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
@Mykola7: I sent an e-mail to all sysops via Wiki on February, 3 2023 14.35 (GMT+3) but Zaitsev’s and Eldarion’s wiki mail has been disabled. Vincent Vega msg? 17:07, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Vincent Vega:! Could you please clarify point 2 of this section ("Etkin olmama")? It seems that 'crat should decide if asking for the removal, or if mantaining the permissions, but maybe this is not applied in the first review. Also, imho, the last section should be updated so that also stewards are notified is someone unfortunately dies (because the account should be locked for security reason). Thanks! Superpes15 (talk) 17:19, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Here is the translation.
1. If sysops are not active within a calendar year, starting from their last contribution or last sysop action, they are removed from the sysop user group. The concept of activity is defined by at least 100 changes and 50 log actions in a calendar year.
2. 1 month before the end of the calendar year, the sysop notified via message page and / or e-mail about the situation. If sysop decide to return, s/he should submit an application again. This application process should be in the same way as a new application. According to result of the application, a bureaucrat (or bureaucrats as a result of the bureaucrat discussion) decides whether to continue or remove the service. In the event that the decision to take the service is made, a bureaucrat applies to Meta for the revocation of authority.
I proposed this policy. Here the main point is informing, it is not so important and or or. One of them is enough for being informed.
In fact, 11 months inactivity result is reapplication.
About Ölüm section is clear enough in Turkish language Superpes15. No problem on there. Vincent Vega msg? 17:35, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

  • You are right. I sent mail all (except Zaitsev and Eldarion due to wiki mail disability) on February 3, 2023 but unfortunately did not write talk pages. Zaitsev has been notified on February 23, 2023 and Eldarion notified on same date via talk pages. Vincent Vega msg? 17:49, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Nanahuatl:, I instead thought it was clear that messages (1 and 2) were both sent on 23 February by Styyx, since the users didn't enable the onwiki emails. According to your policy, you should wait a month after the comunications, and the same requests were already rejected for the same reason by another steward. Am I missing something? Absolutely no problem! A bit of confusion is perfectly understandable, since this is the first time that an inactivity review has been done with the new policy. @Xiplus the "new account" you listed above (防滥用过滤器) was active just moments ago (see log). Have you corrected this to the "old" account (which doesn't seem to have started working yet). Can you confirm the change is working on the new account? (Want to ensure that your abusefilter functionality isn't broken due to timing, job logs, etc). — xaosflux Talk 14:24, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
The name (w:zh:MediaWiki:Abusefilter-blocker) was updated from translatewiki. We have use the old name for a long time. You can find there is more block logs on the old account (滥用过滤器). There is no any proposes to change it, so I think it's an unexpected change. I have set it back to old name (w:zh:Special:Diff/76354929). Xiplus (talk) 14:35, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
@Xiplus They are both marked "This user is a system user", your change may still be occurring on-wiki. Will complete once we can see the right account is working again (or if a day goes by - the local AF seems to trip more often than that though). — xaosflux Talk 14:45, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Done @Xiplus: removed. — xaosflux Talk 11:29, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: Could you remove the notice "This user is a system user" please? Thank you! AlPaD (talk) 15:22, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@AlPaD the isSystemUser designator is not removable (see phab:T212720). Although it is not currently in use by the system, it is still useful to have it tagged that way so that when someone later views its historical actions it is clear that they were not performed by an individual. — xaosflux Talk 15:52, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: OK, thank you for information. AlPaD (talk) 18:57, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
防滥用过滤器 was also made sysop on several other wikis, and should be taken care of. By the way, is it possible to connect all accounts of this system user to CentralAuth? —— Eric LiuTalk 01:49, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

NahidSultan@global

I think NahidSultan don't use global sysop rights and make edits with global sysop rights over six months. the last log. When I research per cross activity tool, renamer logs on Meta, I see newbies log however other logs on other wikis are renamer logs and move atoumatically renamed users' pages generally after 29 July. Maybe I can mistake, so you can research in detail with your scripts for his right logs. --Uncitoyentalk 14:07, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Eldarion@trwiki

Per the new policy (the results of it can be seen here). Kolhisli (talk) 06:55, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

Kolhisli, As I see, Eldarion is now back active after notification. Now I see 106 edits and 58 log admin actions over the past year. --Mykola 08:02, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
I need to mention that 22 of those edits are done after 23 March 2023, which is more than 1 month after the notification about removal of admin rights. I also should point out that these edits only include vandalism rollback and automatic warning message sending which are probably done in order not to lose the admin rights. In this situation, I don't think it's not too bureaucratic to be strict about the number of edits and date of notification. Kolhisli (talk) 08:40, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
FYI: A similar request Superpes15 (talk) 11:18, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
Not done There are a few different ways this could go wrong, especially when applying things retroactively. Stewards have always declined to act where community policy is even partially ambiguous. The policy will need to change or the inactivity will have to occur again to the thresholds in the policy. -- Amanda (she/her) 23:56, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

防滥用过滤器@all

防滥用过滤器 still holds administrator permissions on 9 wikis. It seems that my request had not been noticed. Please consider removing the bits, if possible. Is it needed to adjust local interface settings? —— Eric LiuTalk 14:35, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

@Ericliu1912 it looks like you added comments after that was closed, and it was archived. Confirm this is the list you are requesting: (wuuwiki, zawiki, zhwikibooks, zhwikinews, zhwikiquote, zhwikisource, zhwikiversity, zhwikivoyage, zhwikt). Keep in mind, that this doesn't actually cause any problems. Have you verified that MediaWiki:Abusefilter-blocker has the correct value on each of these projects already? — xaosflux Talk 15:35, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
FWIW phab:T160666 has been opened for years to just use one central account for all of this, but it's not being worked on. — xaosflux Talk 15:50, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
@Ericliu1912: I saw your comment that you would like to connect all unattached accounts to the CentralAuth. But the account was created by someone else in zhwiki but the others were created as system accounts. I don’t know if attaching those accounts to CentralAuth is appropriate (unless locking the account after the attaching the local accounts). Also, the current abuse filter account in zhwiki (zh:User:滥用过滤器) does not have an CentralAuth account (See Special:CentralAuth/滥用过滤器). 132.234.228.41 23:37, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
Through research I've understood that system accounts don't really "exist", so that's fine, no need anymore. —— Eric LiuTalk 01:24, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Unfortunately I don't have much knowledge of how that works, so I couldn't do much. Do I need to change something in translatewiki.net? —— Eric LiuTalk 13:36, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
Create MediaWiki:Abusefilter-blocker locally to prevent it from happening again. Xiplus (talk) 15:02, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
@Ericliu1912 - to confirm, is this withdrawn for now? — xaosflux Talk 12:43, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Well, that's fine for now, I guess. Will take a look on the issue few months later to see if it should really be addressed. —— Eric LiuTalk 13:24, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Request withdrawn per above) Thank you, please let us know if you need help on this again. — xaosflux Talk 13:37, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

Miscellaneous requests

transwiki for Sir_Amugi@Meta

Sir_Amugi, an experienced and reliable editor, needs transwiki importer rights to support the publication process of the Research talk:Newsletter. I have been handling this task for several years but will be handing over the importer role to Sir Amugi this month and will need to train them. If the requirements for granting the rights are the same as when Tilman requested them for me, then I suppose that no separate discussion elsewhere is necessary. Thank you. —M@sssly 10:27, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
@Masssly: there should be a local discussion first, @Sir Amugi: can start a discussion at Meta:Babel where you and others can show support, let it run for a week then post it above (please comment on this to make sure we see the update). The 2015 request here was a bit unusual in that it was coming from a WMF staffer. — xaosflux Talk 10:52, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
