Here is a list of GLAM-Wiki projects and initiatives that use Structured data on Wikimedia Commons, which can be consulted as inspiration.

Case

  • Structured data for the collection of a small art museum.

  • Official pilot project for Structured data on Wikimedia Commons.
  • Structured data for the collection of the Jakob Smitsmuseum, a small municipal art museum in Mol, Belgium (1.5 full time staff, 9 volunteers).
  • Around 100 data items and files of artworks (paintings, prints, drawings) by artist Jakob Smits uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.

Case

  • Connecting three generations of decorative arts and their historical context.

  • Official pilot project for Structured data on Commons.
  • Structured data for the work of a dynasty of Belgian silversmiths: Louis Wolfers, Philippe Wolfers and Marcel Wolfers, and their firms, collaborators and companies.
  • Highlights stories and connections between works in different museum collections and their broader context.
  • Also focus on describing copyright statements in structured data.

Punjabi Qisse

Case

  • Digitized publications, described with structured data, and to be transcribed on Wikisource.

  • 2019

  • Official pilot project for Structured data on Commons.
  • Structured data was added to a set of old, digitized Punjabi books in the Qisse genre.
  • This pilot project looked at the potential of re-use of data between various Wikimedia projects: Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikisource, improving the workflow of contribution to these projects.
