Comment Hi and welcome to the FPC. I've fixed up the file page a bit for you to match what it should contain for the FPC. Nice clouds, but the file name is a bit ambiguous and not describing the photo very well. This is a requirement here. It should be more specific, but changing a file name during a nomination should only be done by one of the regular FPC coders since it affects the whole procedure. Would you mind if I changed it to 'Cirrus uncinus clouds in the morning sky - D35 2227 01' and fixed things for you? Or do you have a better suggestion for a name. Info @ADARSHluck and WildMouse76: Great shot, worth promoting! The cloud structure is fascinating and reminds me of the structure of ice flowers on glass. Unfortunately, the image contains a lot of noise and some chromatic aberrations. I took the liberty of removing the imperfections and providing it to you under the SwissTransfer link. Thank you! It was at Ísafjarðardjúp in Iceland. That day I went on a hiking expedition to see the arctic foxes at Hornstrandir and you are driven to the starting point by a boat that picks you up at Ísafjörður. On the way whales can be seen but it's not guaranteed. Luckily, I saw around 10 humpback whales in the morning, including this one that made a big spectacular jump close to the boat (I only managed to photograph the end of the jump as I was photographing other whales when this one suddenly breached on the opposite side of the boat [the movement was so quick that many persons on the boat didn't even see it and only heard the big splash since everyone was looking a group of 5 humpback whales on the other side]). During the hike no arctic foxes were seen (that's nature) but we were lucky on the way back when we met this very excited humpback whale that kept lobtailing (the whale was moving it's tail up and down many times in a row to splash the water). Thank you for this information. It's been a long time since I've seen truly wild regions, the last being a journey to the African savanna in late January and early February of this year. I'm thinking about going to Cape Town to see great white sharks and possibly whales. I don't want the trip to end in disappointment, like the last one, when I didn't spot any leopards or cheetahs! I must admit that I'm a little embarrassed to say that I've never gone whale watching, mostly because of my thalassophobia. I'll make an effort to overcome that phobia, but nothing is guaranteed. To never be disappointed the best is to try to not expect much since nature is unpredictable and there is a luck factor. But it's easier said than done and I must admit I was a bit disappointed when I did 10 half day safaris in India to see the Bengal tiger and only saw it once from behind without seeing its face. She is an actress appearing for the film Chaperon, in which she plays one of the leading roles, at a film festival. Actors and actresses use their whole body and their body-language as tools, they are not just "pretty faces". I don't see why a photo like this could not be in an infobox. On the other hand, it is not necessary for an FP to be the lead photo in an article. Most wikis use rather unflattering passport-style photos for that. Artistic photos of actors and singers can be used in articles, like this Valued image of Cohen (at least until he died and the en-wiki article went passport again).

I've taken the liberty to update the info on the file page; most people (and search Bots!) don't read or follow the categories the photo is in, so it is good to have as much info as possible in the description slot. --Cart (talk) 12:26, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

She is probably doing her best for the cameraman in that photo, but for me, I had hoped that wiki portraits of women had evolved beyond that 50's pin-up-gesture with a woman holding her hands over/on her head, while giving the man behind the lens a sultry look. That gesture might be ok for actresses like Marilyn Monroe or Dita Von Teese who have made 'sexy' their trademark, but not otherwise. Interesting shot. My comment is mainly about the restoration, which seems only part done. Blending the large semicircle pattern seems to make it into the source of light -- is it, though? There's still a strip of that pattern along the top-left, some splotches throughout, and maybe light smudging from the cleanup. Keep Interesting and of historic importance. I also had a stress-free June 2007, so that's a plus. I can't quite put my finger on why it is that this photo makes me feel nostalgic. Maybe because of how prevalent the theme of war games and films was to my early years. With that said, I now understand what those in 2011 saw in this picture. I've choosen to keep the original crop to have the ambience post race. You have riders passing behind the victorious team, soigneur from the team comes to share the hapiness of riders, cameraman is filming. It's just a bicycle race ambience that i want to show accross this picture. And in the center, you have the winner of the race with a big smile. it's a whole that I find hard to dissociate. I'm not sure that there is a lot of pictures representing a recent cyclist rider victory on commons with this angle of view. The idea of this picture is to share with this young rider the hapiness of winning a famous race, and see the team spirit behind this individual sport.
